Trail 10k Course and Info

by admin on June 30th, 2010

The 5k is finished and turned out amazing and amazing and powerful event.  We had around 75 people register for the event and all of the runners finished safely and happily!  Many of the racers were running trails for the first time and several of them were even doing their first 5k.  Some of the racers even mentioned that this was one of the most well-organized events they had ever attended.  The course was marked clearly and no one was lost (one of my worst nightmares!) and the food from The Market and from Einstein Bro’s Bagels completed the package!  Finally, thanks to our amazing race director- The Dirty Dash- for donating prizes to our Second and Third place age division winners.  To everyone that participated as a runner or volunteer, we want to say Congratulations! for making it out of bed in the morning to run and for making it to the race to make this event great.  If you want to download and view the results from the 5k, click here!

Now, onto the next!  The 10k is shaping up to be another great event with sponsors from local businesses and resorts, it should be an exciting day!  The 10k course is slightly more challenging than the course for the 5k.  For this course, you may want to consider bringing some water during the run and if you have trail shoes, you will likely want to wear them.  There is a 1 mile section on Quarry Road that, as its name states, is rocky. The other 5 miles are rolling hills (trail hills that is) and non-technical terrain.

On a lighter note, more challenge usually means more reward and in this race, the reward comes in the form of scenery.  That’s right, if you thought the scrub brush and hillsides weren’t scenic enough during the 5k (but based on the photo, I think it was gorgeous!), then you have to make it out for the 10k!  This is Park City trail running at its finest!

We will have two aid stations on the course, one of which you will pass twice, making it so you will have water available approximately every 1.5 miles.  One of the aid stations is on the trail and because we have to haul water to it on our mountain bikes, it will be a little more primitive.  Keep your eyes peeled at mile 3, you will see it there.

To check out the course, click “view more details” on the map below. Play around a little once you get there. You can watch my pace go all over the place as I made sure I was running on the right trail and if you hit the “player” button in the top right hand corner, you can watch the little arrow on the course show you how the course is run. And because we know that once you see the course, you will be convinced that you should be registered for the run, you can click here to sign up!

Enjoy! And we’ll see you out there on July 10!
