14k on August 14th

by admin on August 3rd, 2010

The 15k has been mapped out and as it turns out, we are actually going to be running a 14k.  After doing a 5k and a 10k that were both a little long, we thought we’d make it up to you by keeping the 15k on the short side.

Cammy's Hill

So, you will only be running 8.84 instead of 9.3.

A few notes on the course:

  • There will be four water stations on the course.  Volunteers willbe at the water stations at miles 1.5, 4.5, and7.3.   There will be a self-serve aid station at mile 3 (unless someone has a friend that would be willing to bike up to mile three and help us out!). Please be sure to get your trash into the bag to keep the trails clean. If you think you will need water between mile 4.75 and mile 7.3, you will need to carry it with you.
  • The course is the most challenging and the most technical of all of the courses but is also very rewarding with new views and new scenery changes.  However, compared to other trail running events, this is still a very intermediate course.  There are two, long and steady climbs on the course.  Both of them are nearly equal in difficulty.  Check out the elevation map to see where the hills are.
  • The shape of the course is a lollipop and essentially builds on the 5k and 10k courses.  With the longer distance of the course, you will be running the perimeter of the Round Valley Trails.  Congrats!  It is quite an accomplishment to be able to outgrow a trail system!

We have more raffle prizes coming in and we have great prizes, including free and discounted entries to other races, for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each age division.  Just one more reason to register for the event!

Check out the course and we’ll see you on July 14th!
