  The reason for creating these races was to introduce new runners to the enriching sport of trail running.  None of this would be possible without the Mountain Trails Foundation, responsible for building and maintaining our trails.  10% of the proceeds from these events goes directly to this foundation to ensure the trails stay accessible for generations to come.
